This boot was built of deeply pebbled American tanned bison leather by Thomas Bates Company ... especially for us here at Herd Wear. Done in Walnut-color.
These are fairly lightweight, leather lined with the same great thermolite sole as the original Redfield. The Redfield III - this new version - is a little taller (12") than the first Redfield which topped out at 11". (For those who don't know, the second version turned out just too narrow and too tall for "ordinary" folk. Phelps took them all back and we did this newest "re-design". These work for dress, casual, working bison, and everything you do, this will quickly become your "go to" footwear. Medium - D width.
Full disclosure: These are made of American-tanned bison that is constructed in Honduras. We do wish we could do it all here but we are very proud of getting this boot (and the Logan bison leather chukka boot) into production in 2021! Post covid this production moved to Mexico for manufacturing in 2022.

The boots are nice and they fit. I would give 5 stars, but I feel it's misleading and disappointing, I specifically look for boots made in the USA. They say these are made in Houndarus, but the boots say made in Mexico, which are NOT the same and also NOT in the same area as Houndarus is way south of Mexico. Also my family are immigrants, and I want to know and make sure that the people making these boots are not being exploited and used as slave labour. I cannot in good conscience recommend any boots to my family until it's more transparent. It is important where my things are made, and that they are made ethicly and that these companies treat the workers fairly working overseas.
Thank you reaching out to us, you are correct that we should have updated our listing. Orginally they were made in Honduras and post Covid production moved to Mexico in 2022. The description does state that it is American tanned bison and made in America not the USA. We strive to make our products within the USA but many mills are moving production out of the USA for many reasons. Our description has been updated for our full disclosure on the production of this product.

These are great boots and fit true to size as received. Very good sole and just what I was expecting, since they are not too hard or soft, and the tread pattern not deep as I desired. Bison leather exceptional. I recommend these for anyone wanting a taller than normal shaft. Shaft height fit to calf perfectly. Stitching made is right on par to above in certain instances.

Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because there is always room for improvement. These are good looking well made boots and very comfortable in the rubber sole. The discounted price was what caused me to make the purchase. I wish they had size 14 available.

These boots are made for walking...and offer comfort and durability in their making. Good looking and practical function. The rubber sole is comfortable and offers stability in many weather and walking conditions.

Boot size runs about half a size up. One of the most comfortable boots I have worn and I don't say that lightly. Fairly particular (just ask my wife). Stitching is really sturdy. Definitely will get years of use out of these boots.

I wasn’t sure if these boots would fit because they are a d width and I wear an w width I have a wider foot but these boots have a little bit wider opening which makes the boots much easier to put on and take off The boots have a pebble pattern and the color looks really good with a pair of jeans their bison insoles keeps your feet from slipping and gives a good cushion I received the boots quickly would order again I called on the phone and was told if the boots didn’t fit I could send them back so if you’re on the fence just order them you will be happy with your new bison boots

Sizing is pretty close. I typically wear 11 in shoes and 10.5 in boots. Ordered 10.5 and they fit dead on for length and are slightly tight on width which is perfect. Small amount of heel slip. My foot is slightly narrow compared to a D width, so YMMV.
Good looking boot. Nicer than the photos, IMO. Nice pebble leather. A bit darker than the photos on my pair.
Comfortable, and soft. Shouldn't take long to break in to my foot.
Well made. Heavy stitching is straight and uniform. Soft glove leather lining. No synthetic material in the boot.
Only had them for a few days, but have no doubt they'll go the distance. Nice boot in a versatile style.
