The Buffalo Wool Co. workhorse bison and merino footbed + compression leg shaft = A Perfect Pair

Before we developed our OTC Compression Socks, they were our most requested product ever. Together with Dan and the team at Fox River, we created a pair of compression socks that bring together our amazing bison fiber footbed with a merino compression leg shaft to help keep you comfortable all day.

The Buffalo Wool Co. OTC Compression Socks feature:

  • Graduated Compression (15-20 mmHg)
  • URfit System for arch support and memory-knit construction
  • Smooth and flat comfort toe seam
  • Footbed is a luxurious bison down, ultra-fine merino, bamboo blend
  • Leg Shaft is an extremely comfortable merino wool knit

Why Should You Wear Compression Socks?

Before you fine folks started requesting compression socks, we had never tried them. Well, color us impressed. We found our OTC Compression Socks to provide all-day leg support and circulation keeping our feet and legs from swelling. But, don’t just take our word for it. Here are some leading expert reasons why compression socks are the right fit.

Compression Socks increase healthy pressure on your skin and tissue.

If you’re taking a long flight or patiently waiting in your hunting blind, compression socks can help maintain circulation during periods of less movement. That means less discomfort and potential swelling in your legs and feet.

Graduated compression can aid in recovery from heavy physical activity.

Whether you are an avid runner, cyclist, snowmobiler or fisher, graduated compression socks have shown to help recovery from heavy activity. Graduated compression improves blood circulation, which in turn speeds the removal of lactic acid and increases oxygen to the blood.

Most Common Use Cases for Compression Socks

We’re certainly hooked on the benefits of our OTC Compression Socks for everyday wear while working, but in case you need more inspiration, here are a few of our favorite use cases for these amazing socks.

  • Long fishing excursions
  • Flying to and fro
  • Skiing or Snowmobiling (bonus - our OTCs are also incredibly warm)
  • Running
  • Long sitting spells while hunting

    Sock Sizing

Socks should fit as well as any of your other garments. The heel should sit on your heel and not under it as in a sock too small, nor half way up your Achilles as in a sock that’s too large. Socks should be flush against your foot with no extra material sagging. The toe seam should lay flat across the top of the toes.

    Sock Heel at Your Heel
The sock heel should sit on your heel, not under it or above it.

    Flat Toe Seam
The toe seam should lie flat along the top of your toes, not above or below.

    Taut Across the Foot
Socks should be taut across your foot with no sagging material. If you wear a wide shoe size (E+), consider sizing up.

    OTC Compression Socks 100

In short, these compression socks are awesome! Full evaluation: Quality socks have been a mainstay for me for the past 27 years in healthcare and hiking/trail running. They must have support, not cause my feet to sweat/stink, perform consistently wear after wear and wash after wash (I know it is not recommended to wash these but I tried it anyway and found no issues), not slide down my legs or require constant adjustment throughout the day or itch, and should be overall comfortable. I can say 100% that all of my criteria have been met! The fact that this is a small, family owned business, USA made with high quality fibers makes these perfect for me as a consumer. I believe in connecting with a brand and product, not just wearing it. You have done an amazing job. Not to mention the adorable bison and heart rhythm pattern! While some folks may have a bit of "sticker shock," I do not as I have been willing to pay premiums for quality socks for a long time, especially if they last. Well done and thanks so much for caring!!!

    Incredible

Let me start by saying I don't like tall or OTC socks. I bought a pair of these to use if I had a long flight. I don't fly often, so I just used them for the 1st time this week. I wore them on a flight, intending to change to other BWC socks upon arrival. My feet and legs felt so good I left them on. I continued to wear them for the next 3 days, and then again on the flight home. I think I will buy another pair, and wear them all winter, even when I am not flying.
