Go further, stay comfortable. Designed for long days hiking in extreme terrain and conditions. Easy on the foot, but tough on cold, sweat, heat, moisture. Slightly lighter weight than our Trekker socks, but still "Seriously warm-Surprisingly soft", our newest extreme sock, that will keep your feet warm and dry all winter long. Ultra-soft bison fiber that has been properly processed, no prickly itch from these socks. Thicker and more cushioning than our Pro-gear socks.
This sock has a terry loop padded footbed, and lighter ribbed construction all the way up the calf with just enough spandex to hold it above your 10" boot top...but not enough to cut down circulation. Nylon over-plaited in the toe and way up past the heel for long smooth wear.
Superior breathability, temperature regulation, and natural odor resistance!!
Socks should fit as well as any of your other garments. The heel should sit on your heel and not under it as in a sock too small, nor half way up your Achilles as in a sock that’s too large. Socks should be flush against your foot with no extra material sagging. The toe seam should lay flat across the top of the toes.
Sock Heel at Your Heel
The sock heel should sit on your heel, not under it or above it.
Flat Toe Seam
The toe seam should lie flat along the top of your toes, not above or below.
Taut Across the Foot
Socks should be taut across your foot with no sagging material. If you wear a wide shoe size (E+), consider sizing up.

Here at The Buffalo Wool Co., our yarn bases for all our gear is (and will always be) natural fibers. This means that the internal structure of your socks (the parts that touch your skin) will be made from bison fiber, merino wool, mulberry silk, and other 100% natural fibers.
The overall composition (the parts that touch your skin plus everything else) will include other materials like nylon or polyester. This is done to make the sock more durable and ensure that your socks work (and play) as hard as you do.

Purchased for my wife to wear in her hiking boots. Keeps her feet comfortable and supported all day. Glad to have found a company that produces American made quality goods.
Overall, the few times I've worn these socks so far I am pleased with my purchase. They have a nice design, they are comfortable against the skin, have a nice weight, and keep my feet warm. I would love to see this same version in a lighter weight sock (I know you offer some other models for everyday, lightweight but I really like this design and fabric blend).
Went on a 12 day excursion to Antarctica, wore the Yellowstone socks with synthetic liner socks and the boots provided by the ship (had to use their boots). My feet were never cold, whether touring in the zodiac, hiking on land and even wading in shallow water. Never used foot warmers (hot hands for feet). Great socks for cold climates!
I like them
Excellent socks, cool to summer and warm in winter
The socks are warm and very comfortable without being to thick to wear shoes.
Yellowstone Bison/Merino Crew Socks
I work outside sometimes in bad conditions and leave a pair of these in my work bag for when I have to deal with snow or want a warm pair of socks to change into. So far they have been excellent.
