Seriously warm - Surprisingly soft

We created a sock from Bison down and silk that will keep your feet warm and dry all winter long. When summer comes, don't worry, they will also provide dry cool comfort in hot environments, with superior moisture regain properties, and exceptional air-flow almost double the wicking of fine wool. (keeps your feet dry and sweat free)

Exceptionally durable for outdoor activities, long distance running, hold up strong for eighteen holes, or just knocking around town in your sneakers. These socks are incredibly easy to care for and due to their antimicrobial properties, feel free to wear them a few times before washing. But when they do need to be cleaned, simply machine wash on the warm or cool setting, then toss them in the dryer.

We very carefully remove all the guard hair, and scour the fiber so it is soft, cuddly and very very warm.  No prickly itch from these socks.

The shorter brother to the Pro-Gear Technical Boot Sock. A terry loop cushioned footbed, vented and structured instep for smooth fit...but crew height. A nylon over-plaited toe and heel for added strength where you need and want it most.  8" rise (on average)

Features:

  • Terry loop cushioned footbed
  • Vented side
  • Flat toe seam
  • Reinforced toe and heel, nylon over- plaited
  • 8" rise from heel

    Sock Sizing

Socks should fit as well as any of your other garments. The heel should sit on your heel and not under it as in a sock too small, nor half way up your Achilles as in a sock that’s too large. Socks should be flush against your foot with no extra material sagging. The toe seam should lay flat across the top of the toes.

    Sock Heel at Your Heel
The sock heel should sit on your heel, not under it or above it.

    Flat Toe Seam
The toe seam should lie flat along the top of your toes, not above or below.

    Taut Across the Foot
Socks should be taut across your foot with no sagging material. If you wear a wide shoe size (E+), consider sizing up.

    Material Composition

Here at The Buffalo Wool Co., our yarn bases for all our gear is (and will always be) natural fibers. This means that the internal structure of your socks (the parts that touch your skin) will be made from bison fiber, merino wool, mulberry silk, and other 100% natural fibers.

The overall composition (the parts that touch your skin plus everything else) will include other materials like nylon or polyester. This is done to make the sock more durable and ensure that your socks work (and play) as hard as you do.

Bison Socks will be my ‘Go To’ socks 👍🏻 No More Buying from Stores

I still have my socks on as the weather changed from being really warm to a very brisk ‘cold’. The Sun is out, but the weather is a brisk cold today... I’ve come to the recognition that my Bison Wool socks to be an equivalent to a good pair of hiking boots... 😃

    Colder weather

Socks are great at transitioning from indoors to the cold weather outside; still comfy 👍🏻🙂

    Good even @ 106 degrees

Expensive but worth every penny. Already knew they kept feet warm in 20 degree weather. Doubted they could work at all in hot weather. I was wrong. Wore them on a 106 degree day and feet remained dry and as comfortable as any cotton socks would have been.

    Buffalo Wool Co. Socks

I live in Livingston, MT and met one of your shearers who lived here about 10 years ago. Bought a couple pairs of buffalo wool socks from his store "Shorn". Since that time I hav replaced nearly every pair of socks in my drawer with a variety of Buffalo Wool Co. socks. Love them all and will probably never buy any other kind of sock again. Keep up the good work!

Tried all the crew socks. ProGear Crews are the BEST!

I was on a year long hunt for everyday and hiking socks after Costco quit carrying their merino socks. I ordered and tested the Casual Crews and Casual Crew 2.0, Really Really Nice Socks, American Field Crew, and the ProGear Crew Socks. After several months of running these through their paces, the ProGear Crew Sock is hands down winner. They are soft and warm. And amazingly--they do get softer with repeated washings. In the washer and dryer. With NO shrinking. And with elastic woven all down the leg, they stay up on my leg, but aren't so tight they leave a dent. I ordered the 6 pak and should be set for a long time.

Runner up is the Really Really Nice Socks, which also stay up nicely, but don't feel quite as soft as the ProGear. American Field Crew are second runner up. Last in the testing are the Casual Crew and Casual Crew 2.0. Soft and warm enough, but without elastic in the leg they just slide down and wrinkle up around my ankles. Leaving bare skin for the mosquitos.
