Surprisingly Soft and Seriously Warm

Our Trekker Boot Socks are our heaviest, most insulating, and most wicking sock. We’re sure these are likely the warmest socks on the planet. Well, the warmest that aren’t electric but they are silly and pretty impractical!  They are quite thick and stout, they also run a bit large.

Trekker Boot Socks = Workhorse Gear

Designed to be your go-to extra heavyweight boot sock, our Trekkers are extremely thick, quite soft, and well built. Created with ultra-soft bison fiber, these socks are thicker and more cushioning than our Pro-gear socks. We use only properly processed bison fiber that is 100% free from stuff that will make the socks itchy or abrasive.

Our Trekkers feature a terry loop padded footbed and are over-plaited in the toe, heel, and slightly up the leg to make sure your feet will be comfortable all day long.

Despite the extra cushioning and tough construction, these performance designed socks are intended to be worn with footwear. They are not intended to be worn as house slippers. You certainly can, but wearing them on concrete and abrasive surfaces will impact wear.

Trekker Boot Socks are awesome, but don’t just take our word for it!

We gave a pair of our Trekker boot socks to survival expert Leon Pantenburg, and here is his review

Sock Sizing

Socks should fit as comfortably as any other garment. The heel should rest on your heel—not under it (as with a sock that’s too small) or halfway up your Achilles (as with a sock that’s too large). The sock should be snug against your foot with no sagging fabric. The toe seam should lie flat across the top of your toes.

Sock Heel at Your Heel
The heel of the sock should sit directly on your heel, not above or below it.

Flat Toe Seam
The toe seam should lay flat along the top of your toes, not above or below them.

Taut Across the Foot
Socks should fit snugly across your foot without any sagging material. If you wear wide shoes (E+), consider sizing up. If you wear a wide shoe size (E+), consider sizing up.

How to Care for your favorite bison fiber gear

Material Composition

Here at The Buffalo Wool Co., our yarn bases for all our gear is (and will always be) natural fibers. This means that the internal structure of your socks (the parts that touch your skin) will be made from bison fiber, merino wool, mulberry silk, and other 100% natural fibers.

The overall composition (the parts that touch your skin plus everything else) will include other materials like nylon or polyester. This is done to make the sock more durable and ensure that your socks work (and play) as hard as you do.

No More Cold Feet

My feet are usually cold unless it’s summer. Since I ordered these my feet don’t know what cold is anymore. By far the warmest socks I have ever worn. Most impressive and care of them is quite easy.

The Best Never Rest

I wear my Trekker socks from fall through spring. Whether steelhead fishing in my waders, stomping through the snow to cut a Christmas tree or spending the rainy late winter days on the Pacific Coast my Trekker socks keep my feet toasty. Even after a week on the coast they don't stink and work as well as day one. My wife and I LOVE our Buffalo Wool Socks!

Socks

I went from Darn Tough's T4050, which is their heaviest weight socks composed 79% of wool and 21% synthetic, to BWC's Trekker Advantage socks composed of about 70% wool and bison blend and about 30% synthetic which is the comparable heavy weight. I don't have central heating and went from freezing to death like I was barefoot during night, to actually being warm despite the composition allegedly being less in % of warm stuff- this bison stuff is quite powerful... The shape is much better- much wider toe box and you can spread them where Darn Tough's just chokes you, same sizes compared, a lot more comfortable.
I don't know yet about durability just starting to test this stuff out, I follow the same washing routine as with DT- wash when salt deposits get too bad 😄.

Warmest Sock Ever

I recently bought the Trekker sock, was very impressed with the warmth they provided but was frustrated with how itchy they were. I emailed Ron and he suggested washing them a couple of times, I did this and it absolutely worked! So if you struggle with them when you first get them make sure and wash a couple of times and you’ll have the warmest and most comfortable sock!

These are amazing.

They keep your feet warm even in steel toed boots and the last forever. I buy them for my dad because his feet get cold due to diabetes. They help a lot and the whole family loves them!

A great pair of socks!

I have no problem whatsoever with these well-made socks and will purchase again when need to replace (which may be awhile due to the high quality...). Thank you for making wonderful products!

The best socks for extremely cold temps

I live in a very cold climate, and these are the only socks that keep my feet warm!
