Over the calf, and over the top.

This is a four season sock, great cushioning and support for standing in a river tossing flies at salmon, long hikes, hard hunts, and basically just keeping your feet dry and comfortable in most conditions.  They will stay fresh and funk free for days on end... pack less, travel more.  Less bulk and better fit, not quite as insulating as our Trekker or Pro-gear socks, but built to take whatever you can throw at them and still keep you cozy.

The Buffalo Wool Co. Kenai Boot Socks feature:

  • URfit System for arch support and memory-knit construction
  • Smooth and flat comfort toe seam
  • Footbed is a luxurious bison down, ultra-fine merino, bamboo blend
  • Leg Shaft is an extremely comfortable military-spec polypropylene

Knit for us at Fox River Mills in Osage Iowa, those sock-creating geniuses marry military spec polypropylene on the sock shaft with our close-to-bulletproof bison down/ultra fine superwash Merino wool, and bamboo yarn blend in the foot. (the same yarn we use in our B.O.S.S. socks.)

Anyone that has ever worn a pair of military polypro socks knows how supportive they are, but you have never felt the footbed comfort and warmth of our bison/merino/bamboo yarn blend at the same time.

The result is the exact sock that Fox River knits for the US Military but with your feet surrounded with the warm, moisture-wicking, comfortable, durable proportions of our BOSS Sock. This Mil-Top sock is about 3" taller than our Trekker boot sock ... right at mid-calf ... and with the stay-in-place power of mil-spec polypropylene.

As to scent capturing,  We had one of our spec testers, who claims to have worn them a ridiculous 12 days of elk hunting.  Now that would just be "Socks Abuse"!  But these are the top of the hunting/moving/walking sock food chain.  They are my "go-to" hard-wearing outdoor socks anymore.

      Sock Sizing

Socks should fit as well as any of your other garments. The heel should sit on your heel and not under it as in a sock too small, nor half way up your Achilles as in a sock that’s too large. Socks should be flush against your foot with no extra material sagging. The toe seam should lay flat across the top of the toes.

      Sock Heel at Your Heel
The sock heel should sit on your heel, not under it or above it.

      Flat Toe Seam
The toe seam should lie flat along the top of your toes, not above or below.

      Taut Across the Foot
Socks should be taut across your foot with no sagging material. If you wear a wide shoe size (E+), consider sizing up.

      Material Composition

Here at The Buffalo Wool Co., our yarn bases for all our gear is (and will always be) natural fibers. This means that the internal structure of your socks (the parts that touch your skin) will be made from bison fiber, merino wool, mulberry silk, and other 100% natural fibers.

The overall composition (the parts that touch your skin plus everything else) will include other materials like nylon or polyester. This is done to make the sock more durable and ensure that your socks work (and play) as hard as you do.

Best socks - hands (or should I say feet) down!

I ordered these socks for fall spring wear not really believing they were 4 season. I had done work at my farm in cotton socks that left me with 4 blisters on each foot. I decided the Kenai socks were thick enough to prevent blisters and I would endure hot feet. I did 8 hours of bushhogging in 95 degree heat in middle Georgia. My shirt was wet, my jeans were wet, my hat and gloves were wet but my feet were not only bone dry but they were actually the only part of me that was not hot. I came home after those brutal 8 hours and ordered another 3 pair. They are THAT good! I will never wear another kind of sock for work at my farm.

      Kenai boot socks

These boot socks are a great wear even went you trip and fall in the Kenai. They kept my feet warm while the rest of me was wet and cold. Thanks for the great socks.

      Kenai Boot Socks

I gave them to my hubby to wear with his gum boots but not sure if he has used them. Will ask, his boots have a hole but he keeps wearing them.

      Too long for wear

This was a gift for Father's Day for my husband. He has loved all of The Buffalo socks I've gotten him in the past so this looked like a nice gift. He does electrical work and wears steel toed boots while working in the heat and cold of ND. This was a new style I thought he would like because of the use in hot and cold weather but the socks are too long and go up to his knees. I did not want to go through hassle of returning. Maybe he can wear while snowblowing this winter.

      I was surprised.

I already have several pairs of OTC socks and was hesitant to try the Kenai design/build.
However, I've found them to be better for summer temp use (in Alaska) than the OTC socks.
A good supportive footbed and very moisture wicking, I used these socks to break in a brand new pair of work boots-
14 hrs per day wear at a minimum. Very comfy indeed!!

Kenai Boot Socks - very comfortable

I have been looking for quality boot socks for Georgia Turkey hunting. The weather can go from cool mornings to very hot afternoons. The Kenai socks kept my feet warm in the mornings and also wicked the moisture away in the warm afternoons to keep my feet dry and comfortable. Found the best socks I have ever worn for my turkey hunting needs!
