Why American Field Socks Are So Awesome
Our American Field Boot Socks are our premier bison socks. This calf high sock is great for almost any footwear from taller boots like hiking chukkas to tennis shoes. Created from ultra-soft bison fiber, these socks will keep your feet warm and dry all year long.
The American Field Boot Socks are warmer and more cushioning than our Pro-gear socks and thinner and lighter than our Advantage Trekker Socks. Designed to be the ultimate sock for regulating temperature, moisture wicking, the AFs are also incredibly supportive, light to wear, but just as tough as our Bison/Merino blends.
All About The Bison Down
The American Fields start with ultra-soft bison fiber. We monitor the fiber every step of the way from scouring and dehairing the fiber, to working directly with the spinning mill to determine the perfect amount of twist and loft in the yarn.
Once we have the perfect Bison yarn, we pair it with traditional fibers to ensure flexibility in all the right places and ultra comfort for all day wear.
Red Dog Kids Sock Sizing
Socks should fit as comfortably as any other garment. For kids, this means the socks should stay snug around their feet without slipping or bunching, especially during active play. The heel should rest on their heel—not under it (as with a sock that’s too small) or halfway up their ankle (as with a sock that’s too large). The sock should move with their foot without sagging.
Sock Heel at the Heel
The heel of the sock should sit directly on the heel, ensuring it doesn’t ride up or slip down during movement.
Flat Toe Seam
The toe seam should lay flat across the top of the toes, ensuring there’s no irritation or rubbing, especially important for kids' sensitive feet.
Snug Fit Across the Foot
Socks should fit snugly without sagging material. For kids with wider feet, consider sizing up to allow extra room for comfort without sacrificing fit.

How to Care for your favorite bison fiber gearMaterial Composition
Here at The Buffalo Wool Co., our yarn bases for all our gear is (and will always be) natural fibers. This means that the internal structure of your socks (the parts that touch your skin) will be made from bison fiber, merino wool, mulberry silk, and other 100% natural fibers.
The overall composition (the parts that touch your skin plus everything else) will include other materials like nylon or polyester. This is done to make the sock more durable and ensure that your socks work (and play) as hard as you do.
