Lovely to spin

I loved spinning this fiber! I used a tahkli style supported spindle, spun fast and fine as recommended, holding a portion of fluff in my palm and spinning off my fingertips. The fiber is very well prepared and I had no waste. I spun half Z and did a two-ply S, and half S with a two-ply Z. I will use them to knit up some wrist warmers when I’m done looking at the lovely little buffalo yarn cakes.

I can't give enough stars.

I ordered a half ounce bag, but received a full, along with a simple note, "I didn't have any 1/2oz bags :)". This would have been a happy surprise at any time, but it's been an especially rough few weeks and the kindness really touched me. Thank you so so much.

The fiber itself is lovely and a delight to touch, I can't wait to work with it.

Buffalo fiber

I blended buffalo fiber with alpaca and spun the fiber and knitted a hat.

Yummy down

This fiber drew ahhhh's from my spinning group. It's so soft! It is very well-prepared so I just started spinning right out of the bag. The fiber is quite short so I had to adjust my spinning technique, but the yarn will be a dream to work with and wear. I love exploring new fibers, especially the luxury ones. I may take some of this and card it with yak down and see what happens. I'm sure I will be back for more.

Cousin

My favorite cousin is learning how to spin and make yarn. Perfect for her. She loves it.

Super clean

Here’s the thought that comes to mind; buffalo are out in pastures, and they roll around, making wallows in the dirt. Therefore, just like any dirty kid, you would anticipate all the vegetation and dirt to collect in their coat. This fiber was so super clean it was a breeze to spin. Purchased it for our local historical society who is creating a buffalo box for elementary school children. So glad to be able to share this gorgeous fiber, space triple plied in a Navajo ply with these young minds.

Bison Down is amazing

Wonderful experience with the Buffalo wool Co. I'm glad I stumbled across this company. Had a small delay in shipping, when I called Buffalo Wool i got an owner's cell phone while they were working out in the field. The delay was fixed that day. The Buffalo Down is of the highest quality.

To be honest, I ordered this because I admire bison and wanted to be able to “pet” one safely. It is so soft! My family was impressed too.

Blown away on a cloud

I was astonished. I've bought buffalo down from another source, and now I see what's possible... so clean, no neps, so perfectly dehaired.....and you gave me a freebie! Never going anywhere else for this, ever. Thanks! (with hearts and stuff),

Lovely fiber

While The Buffalo Wool Co. makes lots of products using buffalo yarn, they also sell buffalo fiber to spin. It does have a rather short staple length, but it is still easy to spin into a wonderful yarn.
I bought mine to use to blend with other fibers, and I fully expect to love the resulting yarn.

Looking forward to using it

I'm looking forward to spinning this. I will probably mix it with either silk or wool, first. I love my socks from you folks so I'm sure I will love whatever I make with this.

I love how soft it feels and hope to spin it with silk and another soft wool for an as yet an undecided project. I’m in the beginning stages of spinning 4 ounces of another wool so it will be a while until I get to it. Eagerly awaiting though.

It lives up to it’s name

It is truly a cloud. You can immediately tell the difference on the bobbin. I have some on my spinning wheel and on my drop spindle. I spun up some merino earlier and bison is what I
Working on now. Bison is WAY softer. I already have a cowl from Bison yarn and of course gloves so I know my new yarn will be just as warm.

Sooooo soft and beautiful color

This is a little embarrassing. I love the fiber so much I don’t want to spin it until I have the just right project to use it for. So I can’t say what it is like to spin just yet. I can say the softness is amazing and I love the true, brownish, “rustic” color!

Creamy cloud

If cloud bison 100% were a dairy product, cloud bison 100% would be the heavy cream. I wish I could sleep in a bed made of it.

Exceedingly Clean, Exquisitely Soft

I am a handspinner who enjoys spinning fibers from animals around the world. I was delighted to discover bison cloud from your magnificent bison raised here, in the USA. How delightful it was to sample this exceedingly clean, exquisitely soft cloud right out of the bag it arrived in--no hair, no chaff, no dust--only pure fiber. It spins beautifully with only gentle teasing to draft the fine fibers. My guess is that yarn from bison down will form a halo, as does musk ox qiviut. I look forward to blending the bison cloud with a touch of wild silk to add a golden shimmer to its rich, brown color. Well done, Buffalo Wool Company!

Cloud Bison down

Soft and lovely. I have processed raw bison fiber by hand and it is a LOT of work. I am happy that I treated myself to this bag of luxury.

Blending Cloud

The down is really soft. I was blending 9 grams with a couple oz's of Icelandic wool today. Unless I was blending wrong it liked to stick to the feeder. Solution! I spread the down on top of the top I was going to blend then turned it all over and no sticking. Next time I will use a higher percentage of down to wool. I am thinking also of using my Blackfoot spindle to spin some, maybe Navajo ply the result. It might be best to ply on the fly with the Blackfoot spindle. I really like the Cloud down

This was exactly what was

This was exactly what was described. Blended with Alpaca to get some long fibers into the final yarn. Can wait to spin this up and knit some hunting gloves for my husband.
