Story and photos by Linda N. Cortright.  This book was written to provide a unique perspective on the myriad of ways natural fibers have developed and are celebrated throughout the world often succumbing to political dictates and environmental mutations.

Not familiar with "Wild Fibers" magazine or Ms. Cortright?  Perhaps you are not as immersed in the spinning, knitting, crocheting, weaving .... and raising of animal fibers as some others.  Linda created what is properly called "The National Geographic Magazine of natural fibers."    Her magazine collections have re-sold for some pretty astronomical prices.  They are beautiful, informative, wandering and take you all over the globe ... literally top to bottom, to bring together how fiber animals and the people that both raise and utilize them continue to make things "work" in the age of synthetics and disposable.  One cannot help but be fascinated.

This work is a very thoughtful (and gentle) distillation of her journeys.  It is done with an "eye" on the inevitability that we all have limited time on our "rock", and if we want our message to continue beyond that time it is up to us to make that happen ... while we can.

You will come away with a (deeper) love with natural fiber, with humanity and all our "critters" ... and with Linda.  Great read! (and the first printing is sold out).
