Where the funds will be going,
To the National Buffalo Foundation, with funds earmarked for the creation of "The Bison Center for Excellence" at South Dakota State University (the BWC will cover all card processing fees, and kick in a donation of their own. This is something that is pretty important to us and a lot of bison producers.
The Mission of the NBF is “To be the trusted funding source for bison research and education. We will continue to provide leadership by creating and strengthening partnerships to proactively enhance the future of the bison.”
In its 25 year history, the NBF has funded over $500,000 in 36 different grants and sponsorships through generous donations from folks like you. Research projects that include the Texas A&M Bison Genome Sequencing Project, University of Saskatchewan Bison Fertility Project, North Dakota State University Bison Meat Nutritional Analysis Study among many others. Additionally, the NBF owns and tours internationally the “Bison Exhibit” museum exhibit (see www.bisonexhibit.org) as well as annually supports the Junior Judging Competition and administers the Buffalo Hall of Fame at the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, North Dakota.
To continue moving forward with this valuable work, we need your help. We are conducting a year-end fund drive, specifically for helping to create a Center of Excellence (COE) for Bison Studies with South Dakota State University. This COE will be pivotal to move bison research to the next level. It will become the strategic central point for various disciplines of much needed scientific research regarding bison, beginning with health and nutrition. We are off to a great start with $350,000 from some generous donors stepping up and so your donation would be very welcomed to keep this effort moving forward. We have the lofty goal to double the contributions to date. When pooled with the donations of others, your generosity is sure to go a long way toward making a difference.
