River Queen - PDF knitting pattern

A feminine slouchy with a dramatic beaded lace start.

  • Knitting Hat ? Beanie, Toque
  • Published April 2015
  • Designed by Lynette Meek
  • Suggested yarn Buffalo Wool Company Tracks
  • Yarn weight Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi) ?
  • Gauge 30 stitches = 4 inches in stockinet
  • Needle size US 2½ - 3.0 mm
  • Yardage 250 - 300 yards (229 - 274 m)
  • Sizes available One size - ladies medium
  • 36 interesting beads for the fringe, plus 150 size 8/0 beads

This sample uses small Leaf shaped glass beads that are pre-strung and are worked into the fringe but any fancy bead would work equally well for the fringe. For example – size 5/0 triangular beads or size 6.0 round beads are good options. Teardrop crystals would be beautiful as well. The beads in the body of the hat are placed with a crochet hook as the cap is knit.

The pattern is offered in one size but the lace start is very stretchy and adapts well to most average head sizes. Further sizing could be obtained with changing needle sizing. Knitted from the bottom up.
