Antiquus stood 7.0 feet at the shoulders and weighed nearly 3,000 pounds.

It’s hypothesized that what has come to be called the smaller but very successful American Bison was mostly derived from Occidentalis, but we don't really know. Both spread across North America from Canada to Texas, probably inbreeding, although Occidentalis seems to have been more successful. Largest of the Bison was Latifron Bison Bison,Latifrons, Bison Priscus or the large horned Steppe Bison Bison originally had a range stretching from Western Europe to the eastern tip of Asia. During the Ice Age, it crossed the land bridge and entered the Western Hemisphere. It is known to have established itself from Alaska to what is now Northern Washington State, but the distribution might have been more extensive. European cave drawings depict it including drawings of mortal battles with early Man.
