How to Find Your Hat Size
- First, get yourself a tape measure made from a flexible material like cloth, fabric, or bendable plastic.
- Wrap the tape around your head, making sure you measure above your ears at the area where you prefer to wear your hat.
Although it is a matter of personal choice, a good spot to measure is the widest part of your head, as that’s where a hat often fits the best. When you get a measurement, consult the charts above to figure out your size.
Sizing Tips:
- Measure several times to ensure you’re getting an accurate measurement.
- Don’t pull the tape too tight; you always want to err on the side of having a little too much room.
- If you fall between two sizes, we strongly recommend that you choose the larger in the interest of comfort.
- Head sizes and shapes differ from region to region. The most common male size is 7-3/8 and the average hat size for females is 7-1/4

I bought this mainly for hiking in the Pacific Northwest and mucking about in the rain feeding chickens and the like. Well, enter snow storms. I've been out in blizzard-like conditions over the last couple of days, and this hat has been a godsend. Waterproof. Stays on. And incredibly warm. It obviously doesn't really keep your ears warm like a beanie type hat, but in temps around 20˚ - 30˚'s, I have found it helps keep me so warm, my ears have not been cold.
I went out in the middle of the night, in blizzard conditions, to deal with my frozen well. This was the hat that went with me, on snowshoes, in the dark, 30 - 40 mph gusts of wind, and 15 mph sustained, blowing snow. It kept the snow out of my face, my head warm, and helped keep the wind off me.

I bought a dark brown version of this hat at the Taos Wool Festival several years ago, and got compliments everywhere I went. It was really nice and warm, and I wore it all winter for one winter before it was lifted from my car in Austin. I thought of it today, while we're in the middle of the polar vortex with lows in the teens here in central Texas, so I decided to try to find it. I really miss it. Looks like the dark brown is no longer available, however, and this one is not available in XL.

I bought this hat for an upcoming winter backpacking trip, plus loved the look. I had never seen it in person so you could say I bought on faith and based on the reviews I read. It arrived quickly and once I saw it and put in on my head, I've worn it almost daily. Love the hat. It's comfortable, it's warm, it's a great rain shelter and it just looks good. It's brim is just the right size and the overall sihloutte is perfect. I own 2 Stetsons but I fear they'll get little use now. Can't wait to wear while camping.
